CrimShield Crime-Free Criteria... 

Every CrimShield Certified member has met all of the stringent qualifications required by our private investigators, which, as a minimum,  include the following:

  • Have a United States Government issued identification card.
  • No felonies found in the past ten (10) years.*
  • No misdemeanors involving violence, theft, drugs or crimes against persons or property found in the past five (5) years.
  • No sex crimes found, ever.**
  • No crimes against children found, ever.**
  • No pending or looming legal action found which may result in a misdemeanor or felony conviction.
  • Professionally investigated and verified background check.
  • Current, accurate personal photograph.
 The following are also grounds for denial of a CrimShield Certification:  Any criminal charge for which a diversion of any type was granted, regardless of whether a conviction was entered in the court records.  A diversion shall include any program where probation was granted as a result of deferred prosecution; deferred judgment; withheld judgment; deferred sentence; suspended sentence; diversion; adjudication withheld; non-adjudication; dead docketing; expunged; set aside; accelerated rehabilitation disposition program; any rehabilitation program; conditional discharge; intervention program; nolo contendere; prayer for judgment; pre-trial intervention; responsible, shock probation; stet docket; stricken off leave; or any type of prosecution or sentencing or diversion program where the government agrees not to prosecute or enter a conviction upon an agreement that probation of any type, or the like, is successfully completed.  Any first time offender program outside of the State of jurisdiction shall be treated in the same manner.  The rationale for this policy is that if there was sufficient reason for a person to enter into any type of diversion program, or diversion-like program, (like those listed above), in order to avoid a conviction, then the event (or some element(s)) of the crime) likely took place, and therefore, CrimShield will not issue a CrimShield Certification and Identification Badge.

*Some States have requirements that prohibit its Courts form maintaining its criminal records for more than 7 years past the conviction date or that fail to do so.

*Some States have prohibitions from reporting of court records or other adverse information that antedate the convictions/deferments by 7 years of the report.

*Federal law prohibits reporting of adverse, non-conviction information for 7 years antedate to the report.

** "Ever" refers to Adult and Juvenile matters.

CrimShield reserves the right to a case by case review of any application and investigation to determine issuing a Certification.

* All CrimShield Certified individuals have successfully met the CrimShield Criteria. Individual companies may establish their own criteria, which will always include the standard CrimShield Criteria, but may have additional requirements; exact criteria should be obtained directly from participating companies.
